Between giustitialist populism and operating corporatism

Abstract. One year after the facts, a video spreads perpetuated images towards prisoners of Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison ward. Speakers highlight the influence of the external cultural climate, largely filled by a giustitialist populism,within the penitentiary structures, that joins with an internal culture, characterized by a misunderstanding team spirit, by conflicts between staff and prisoners, and by search of consensus in relationships between management and the operating staff base.

SUMMARY: 1. At the roots of violence in prison. – 2. Beyond those walls. – 3. Internal power relations between istitutional shiness and search of consensus.
