Abstract. Scientific evidence has gained, in the last years, a formidable reputation. It is seen as a sort of “silver bullet” for the solution of tricky crimes and cold cases. Nonetheless reality is always different from expectations. Scientific evidence , sometimes, makes things more complicated. It may be the cause of a loss of traditional investigative technique and It may leads very easily to a wrongful decision. Scientific evidence is, undoubtedly, a precious investigative tool. On the other side, a special attention and awareness on the limits and fallibility of forensics science is always necessary.
